WHITEBOX BACKYARD
New York, NY
White Box is in the forefront of the sustainable movement in the art world. The angled building silhouettes framing the sky were the inspiration for the plan. Captured rainwater will fall in a succession of pools surrounding the recycled stone floor and will spout from channels watering the birch grove and its underplantings.
Recycled green glass will cover walls at right angles and reflective glass particles will be mixed with the recycled concrete forms defining the space. The translucent sail will host a myriad of images projected on its surface. In all, the elements combine to create a public space in which to celebrate the arts.
